Cannabis: efectos nocivos sobre la salud física

Resumen


El cannabis es la droga ilegal más usada y la que más tempranamente se empieza a consumir. De los efectos que ejerce sobre la salud, la Organización Mundial de la Salud emitió un informe en 1981 que actualizó en 1997. Se sabe que su uso tiene efectos perjudiciales agudos y crónicos. Entre los agudos, alterar la cognición y la respuesta psicomotora, lo que aumenta el riesgo de accidentes de tráfico. Entre los crónicos, afecta selectivamente el aprendizaje y la memoria tanto en adultos como en hijos de madres consumidoras, causa lesiones en el sistema respiratorio y altera la respuesta de algunas células inmunitarias.
